The Pisces Foundation believes in the power of partnership and collaboration. The most significant opportunity to accelerate progress lies in purposeful connection, shared priorities, and scaled, collective action. We share learning, exchange information, and seek to bridge differences so as to align for greater impact. As a community, we are better together.

Since launching in 2013, we have awarded over 1,100 grants to over 350 organizations. We believe in building strong, trusting relationships with our partners and colleagues so that, together, we can catalyze and accelerate solutions.

Grantmaking Spotlight

Collaborative Grantmaking Spotlight 

At Pisces, we seek out collaborations with other funders to increase our collective impact and accelerate our work. The Student Conservation Association’s (SCA) efforts to build the next generation of environmental leaders is being reinvigorated with a series of capacity-building initiatives, advanced through this type of funding collaboration.

SCA is growing to serve even more young people and to serve each one even better. The JPB Foundation is supporting the expansion planning of SCA’s Urban Initiatives in cities across the U.S., and the Pisces Foundation is funding the environmental science content of these programs. SCA is also deepening its commitment to character development by refining program evaluation processes and enhancing the training of adult leaders of their programs, funded by the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation.

SCA has a long history of partnership—their hands-on conservation programs depend on relationships with the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and other land management agencies. Collaborating with a group of funders was the natural next step.
